About Jamey Graves

Native son of Savannah, Georgia, I have called Missouri, Pennsylvania, and now, North Carolina home. I began playing guitar and singing when I was thirteen and have loved it ever since. As with many singers, I began singing in church. My father, however, is an avid "rock and roll" lover and I was brought up listening to nothing but the greats in music.

The first album I ever wanted was one by KISS but my father said, " Son you don't want that. Here listen to this. "This" was an album by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. That was the beginning of learning to look for a depth in the music, not just the loudest sound or the fastest beat. Both of my parents encouraged me to be involved in the school chorus, the church choir, sound engineering, guitar lessons - they even got me my first job as a soloist.

I have studied classical music at Duquesne University and the University of North Carolina in Wilmington. Although I have a deep respect for the opera, and know that my training as a classical tenor is important, I thoroughly enjoy entertaining people with popular music.

Although I have formed two very good bands with friends, I perform mostly as a soloist or in a duet - the high tech industry keeps calling all but the most steadfast.

Recently, I've been searching my emotions to create songs which reflect the way you feel when you think, "no one could possibly feel this way." I want to create the music that provides people with a release from the ordinary and lets them know we are all connected.
